Product Description

Frisbees - they date way back to 1871 when the Frisbee Baking Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut made pies that were sold to college students who soon discovered that empty pie tins could be tossed and caught, providing endless hours of game and sport.

For over a century, inventors and innovators from around the world have served us a number of variations to this original pie tin idea - from simple rubber designs to aerodynamic propeller types.

Now the next generation frisbee has arrived, with the Flashflight Frisbee offering a long-flying disc that combines an ultra-bright LED and fibre-optic array for truly stunning mid-air effects...

...so there's no need to keep strapping your micro torch to your frisbee every time you feel like a throw under low light conditions. Think of the possibilities - the sun is setting or rising and you're out there spinning this flying disc of lights (surely that's gotta get some serious looks your way).

Optimally balanced for stability whilst flying, the Flashflight Frisbee feels just like other high quality frisbees of similar size, so there's no need to worry about falling short of your best throws.

The Flashflight Frisbee features:
  • longest & straightest flight design,
  • best illumination (preserving night vision),
  • soft and comfortable feel,
  • water resistance,
  • floatation capability; and
  • long-life replaceable batteries.
We've gotta warn you though - once used at your local park or beach, there may be reports of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) - just don't blame us if you've got a news crew beatin' down your door!

Specifications:

Each Flashflight Frisbee is illuminated by a single LED with nine fibre-optic strands and about 280mm in diameter and 185g in weight. 2 x CR2016 3V lithium cells (included and replaceable) provide about 120 and 20 hours of light for the red and blue frisbees respectively. The red frisbee features a (630 nm) light wavelength that minimises night vision interference.

Please note: Not suitable for children under 3 years old or as an animal toy, as some parts represent a choking hazard.

Flashflight fantastico!

The flash flight frisbee is fantastic. I'm being conservative here, the review isn't allowed to contain obscene language!) I have been trying to solve this problem for quite a few months now. Here in Melbourne In the summer you can friz to your hearts content till about 8:30pm when the sun goes down, but in the winter, theres no frizzing after 5pm! This knocks out vital frizzing time for 6 months of the year!

Someone should buy a dozen flashflights and send them in a care package to Antarctica for the winter! (The red ones for sure, it's too cool there already!?!)

Would you believe I had even perfected taping 3 glow in the dark bracelets to the outside of my frisbee as a remedy. But you have to re-do this each evening and this can get expensive, and unbalances the disc. (but you do get to wear the bracelets for the rest of the night)

The flashflight frisbee suffers absolutely no performance deficit as a result of the LED and fibre optics. In fact the extra 10g is possibly even better. (the flash flight is 185g but international frisbee standard is 175g)

The plastic is even a touch softer than my "normal" one which I don't really use during the day anymore (unless theres a few of us)

The red one lasts for ages (120 hours) and needs only one battery but the blue and white ones looks cooler (this is debatable, but it's my review and blue is my favourite colour :) but it doesn't last as long _and_ it needs 2 batteries (night bike riders will be used to the differing power drain on front and back lights)

A handy tip on throwing your flash flight... release early and relax your wrist. Most beginners are too anxious and let go of the disc too late, let go as the disc is paralell with your hip!
Most importantly, practise practise practise. Start small and close with friends of the same skill level and work your way further apart, or find someone super skilled to watch and soak up the inspiration.

When you play, the most important rule is the "no sorry rule" No, I'm not getting political, but don't apologise it gets tedious and everybody has to start somewhere. You could even try substituting the word sorry for something else to make things more intesesting.

Enjoy...
