Product Description

Dido's first album 'No Angel' introduced to the world a unique talent. Not only did the songs strike a chord with everyone who heard them, 'No Angel' also went on to become the biggest selling record in the world during 2001 with sales of over 12 million (officially the biggest ever-selling debut by a female artist in the UK). Since the release of 'No Angel', which is multi platinum in 35 countries, Dido has toured the world and won many accolades including 2 BritAwards (Best Female, Best Album) plus MTV awards, and an Ivor Nevello award to name but a few…

But that was then... fast forward to 2003 and Florian Cloud De Bounevialle Armstrong - aka Dido - is back with her eagerly awaited new album. Recorded at The Church, the London facility owned by Dave Stewart of Eurythmics, and once again produced by Dido and her brother Rollo (Faithless mainman and founder of dance imprint Cheeky Records), 'Life For Rent' happily picks right up where it's multi-platinum predecessor left off, offering eleven gentle, touching, but often barbed songs, built around piano, acoustic guitar and subtle shades of studio wizardry. The result is an album every bit as fresh and beguiling as its predecessor, but one characterised by a new-found confidence and musical maturity. Includes the single 'White Flag'.

Great Album!

I would have to say this is a great Cd and I recommend it to all Dido's fans. I haven't previously heard much of Dido but now I would like to. White Flag and Life for rent are great songs to listen to, I could listen to them all day. Some of the rest took a while to grow on me as I'm not really used to that kind of music but I think they're great. Good on ya Dido!

gorgeous dido

Dido life for rent cd is one of the best cds i have listened to in a long time. Every song is magnificent. first song WHITE FLAG is so well done it sends tingles down your spine when you listen to it its instrumentle work is great and the soothing voice of dido tops it off. There is not one bad song on this cd. life for rent is also an excellent song and so is stoned. every word that is said in all her song have meaning, feeling and emotions just pouring out of it. mary in india really makes you feel for the man metioned in the song danny. alot of her songs are fairly said but alot of them are uplifting and very powerful such as her song this land is mine...this empowers you to stand up for what is yours in life and makes you feel that you can do anything and be yourself. all her lyrics are very powerful and really great instrumentel work is worked in with the wonderful voice of dido. but not to give dido all the praise because alot of help from her brother rollo and other artists have worked har don these songs . this cd is definately worth buying i have it and once you start listening to it you will not want to stop its also great as backround mkusic becasue its very soothing .. i definately with out a doubt give this cd 5 out of 5

An wonderful album that keeps growing on you!

A wonderful CD. If you're a true Dido fan you will love this album. A little different to her previous albums, so it could take a little while however for it to grow on you, but believe me it grows on you.

Beautiful Dido

Dido has such a magnificent, somewhat haunting voice, but at the same time, one is soothed by the calmness and serenity her songs bring. 'White Flag' is definately one of her best songs yet - with every song at such a high standard. At first I was sceptical about Dido but now I have seen the light and her new album will not leave my Cd player. I find solitude and peace when listening which is a great gift from someone so beautiful and talented. Well Done!

Music not for sale

Dido's songs are simple, but by looking at the number of album sales from her previous record 'No Angel' and the steadily growing number of sales from her new record 'Life for Rent', you can tell that Dido's sings must have a big impact on listeners. Dido's clear-as-crystal voice and heartfelt simplistic songs are what makes Dido unique and although we didn't think she could match the first album, she has indeed, done it again. All of the songs are written by Dido and her brother Rolo who she used to be in the techno group 'Faithless' with and once again, it's the sometimes melancholic, but always honest music that draws in the fans. The album has a few slightly techno dance beats, but Dido's trademark sounds always rise above the music.

Dido's new song white flag has so many words to describe it fantastic for instent the way she sings the lirics to her songs Dido makes them have true and deepfull meaning to them the ones that can bring a tear to a persons eyes that might have been dryed up for ever if they had'nt of heard her songs and the way they make peope feel inside.

Feelings

Dido's new album "Room For Rent" was an excellent track it like her other albums shows her true talent, through her singing and songwritting Dido tells stories of love heartbreak, anger and disbelief. This particular album was a great hit with me, i felt that her songs were easy to relate to (they bought back many memories) while at the siame time the entire track was relaxing to listen to and enjoyable, time after time her songs sound the same, which some people often find annoying but with every song came a diffrent tone of voice and attitude, this is why i love her music and in particular this album. It was very enjoyable new age music she has great talent and will hopefully achieve her aspirations in life. It was EXCELLENT!!!!!
