Product Description
Perhaps the definitve METALLICA release. Metallica's 5th, released in 1991, it's over an hour of crunching, riff heavy sonic terrorism combined with lyrical wizardry! Featuring the strong tracklisting, highlights include: Enter Sandman, Nothing Else Matters, The Unforgiven, Wherever I May Roam and Sad But True. Serious riffs provide punch and punctuation for James Hetfield's gruff vocals which rage against society and religion, and revel in suspicion and sarcasm. METALLICA is full of songs just as potent as the hugely popular 'Enter Sandman,' yet is not as complicated as their recent albums have seemed. 'Sad But True,' which is just as low down and dirty as anything labeled 'grunge,' exemplifies the poise of the metal band that can foresee the punchlines to their riffs and has the patience to wait for them. No Metal/Hard Rock collection is complete without this amazing record.

Turning point of Metallica
This album turned the corner for Metallica and made them commercial thanks to producer Bob Rock formerly producer of The Cult. This happens to be the last Metallica album I purchased as I by far like their earlier albums and songs.I do however like this album but it has nothing on 'Ride the Lightning ' or 'Master of Puppets'.

Wot I think
This is a classic Metallica album.
Every track (even the 2 ballads) are brilliantly written.
Hard, heavy cut to the bone metal.
Probably their finest album to date.

Absoloutely Brilliant !!
When describing Metallicas Black self titled album there is one word that immediately springs to mind "Brilliant". This album is what seperated Metallica from every other rock group. Put this alum on and it will blow you away.
James Hetfield (singer) has elevated his voice for this album, singing in a way that has never been done before and making people really feel the music. From the superbly strung together metal riffage in "Enter Sandman" to the slow bluesy acoustic in the ever so popular "Nothing Else Matters" this album has an excellent range of music that you will be jamming for ages. Kirk Hammetts (Lead Guitarist) solos have been very well written and really work well with Hetfields rhythm. The use of the wa-wa pedal by Hammett in "Enter Sandman" is unbelievable. Jason Newstead is starting to bring out some wonderful new sounds with his bass as is especially demonstrated in "My Friend of Misery", almost bringing back that memorable Cliff Burton moment in "Orion" on "Master of Puppets" where the song stops halfway through and the melodic bass and guitar let it rip.
From the Western Blues of the "Unforgiven" to the heavy chords in "Of Wolf and Man" the Metallica album has it all and won't be topped for a while yet. This is a must for any Metal fan and will encourage you to keep listening to Metallica for a long time.
